The latest addition to our website expands our collection of resources for clients. Our new page, “Drug and Alcohol Counselling” provides information about a variety of resources and organisations that provide assistance in relation to substance abuse and addiction.
Addiction is one of the leading contributing factors in the commission of offences in Western Australia. Taking steps to address the underlying reasons for offending is looked upon favourably by the courts. Engaging in counselling and/or residential rehabilitation demonstrates that the offender has taken responsibility for their offending and they are lower risk of reoffending.
Rehabilitation is a powerful mitigating factor. In many cases where a term of imprisonment is on the cards, attending regular drug and/or alcohol counselling or undergoing residential rehabilitation can mean the difference between going to jail and a non-custodial outcome.
